Registration of productions for the competitive exhibition of the 24th edition of the International Environmental Film and Video Festival (FICA) begins this Friday (24/03) and continues until April 20th through the website Fica.go.gov.br. Fica 2023 will be held between the 13th and 18th of June 2023, in the city of Goiás, and is promoted by the Government of Goiás, through the State Secretariat for Culture (Secult), co-organized by the Federal University of Goiás (UFG ), through the Educational Radio and Television Foundation (RTVE).
The films will be selected by committees of members approved in a public notice. The list of works selected for the FICA 2023 competitive exhibitions will be published on the festival website by May 8, 2023.
FICA 2023 will allocate more than R$ 366 thousand to audiovisual producers, with each feature film selected for the festival receiving R$ 4 thousand and each short film, R$ 3 thousand, per screening. In total, R$ 148 thousand will be paid for licensing the productions. In addition, the festival will distribute more than R$ 188 thousand to the winners of the competitive exhibitions that make up the program. Within this amount, to promote Goiás cinema, the event will allocate more than R$ 60 thousand in prizes for the Goiano Cinema Exhibition and almost R$ 20 thousand for filmmakers from the city of Goiás through the Becos da Minha Terra Exhibition.
The objective of the 24th edition of FICA is to publicize, exhibit and reward audiovisual works of short films (those up to 30 minutes long), medium-length films (more than 30 minutes and less than 70 minutes long) and feature films ( 70 minutes or more in length), in the fiction, documentary, animation and experimental genres, produced in Brazil and abroad, in addition to promoting dissemination, production and training actions in the audiovisual and environmental areas.
The program includes the Washington Novaes Competitive Exhibition of films with an environmental theme, the Goiano Cinema Exhibition with a free theme, the Becos da Minha Terra Exhibition of Vilaboense Short Films with a free theme and Special Sessions and Parallel Exhibitions.
FICA 2023
The 24th edition of FICA will also be held in partnership with the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainable Development (Semad), State University of Goiás (UEG), Federal Institute of Goiás (IFG), Social Service of Commerce (Sesc) and City Hall from the city of Goiás.
The program will feature competitive exhibitions, debates with big names in national and international cinema, shows, fairs and environmental activities. In addition to cultural activities, FICA 2023 will also feature the production of a dossier that will help preserve the memory, permanence and continuity of the festival as an effective public policy in the city of Goiás.
FICA is an important space for discussion and reflection on man's relationship with nature and its consequences for the planet. Throughout its history, the festival has established itself as one of the main references for environmental cinema in Brazil and the world.
