Due to the high volume of entries, double compared to the last edition, the evaluation committee will need more time to complete the curation
The International Environmental Film and Video Festival (Fica) will announce, on April 22nd (Monday), the productions that will participate in the 2024 competitive exhibition. In a previous schedule, those selected would be presented, today (8/4), but due to the high number of entries, 1,078, double the number of films from the 2023 edition, the announcement had to be extended so that everyone could be evaluated.
The committees responsible for evaluating audiovisual material are made up of professionals with notable experience and knowledge in the area and, for the most part, are made up of members chosen from a public call, also counting on nominations from the State University of Goiás (UEG) and the State Council of Culture of the State of Goiás. The festival will be held from the 11th to the 16th of June, in the city of Goiás, and will award prizes ranging from R$ 5 thousand to R$ 35 thousand, in addition to trophies and honorable mentions. 12 feature films and 30 short films will be selected, among which three will be from Goiás.
900 productions from 76 countries in Asia, America, Africa, Europe and Oceania compete for the festival at the Washington Novaes International Exhibition. The number represents an increase of 83.5% compared to the previous year. 103 films were registered for the Goiano Cinema Exhibition, with productions from across the state; 21 films from the city of Goiás for the Becos da Minha Terra Exhibition; and 54 films for the Indigenous and Traditional Peoples Exhibition. From Brazil, productions from several states are registered, including Roraima, Amazonas, Bahia, São Paulo, Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais.
