At FICA, the Government of Goiás promotes the collection of electronic waste and training courses

The Sukatech program bus is in the city of Goiás, where visitors can learn about the correct process for disposing of electronic waste without polluting the environment.

The Government of Goiás promotes the collection of electronic waste and raises public awareness during the 24th edition of the International Environmental Film and Video Festival (FICA), in the city of Goiás. The actions are part of the Sukatech program, linked to the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation of Goiás (Secti). Through the initiative, electronic equipment that would otherwise be discarded is collected and reconditioned. They are then donated to entities assisted by the Government of Goiás. In addition, Sukatech promotes training courses for young people and adults.

The program arrived in the city of Goiás in a bus specially adapted for Sukatech. The vehicle is parked at Praça do Chafariz, in front of Colégio Santana, where visitors can learn about the correct process for undoing and disposing of electronic waste, as well as understanding how the materials contained in them can pollute the environment if they are discarded as common waste. .

Through a partnership with Secti, the city of Goiás will install a Voluntary Delivery Point (PEV) in the city to collect waste electronics. “The environmental agenda has been the focus of Science, Technology and Innovation policies, and Sukatech is an important circular economy program”, analyzes the Superintendent of Sustainable Development, Guilherme Resende Oliveira.

During FICA, Sukatech also offers a Computer Maintenance mini-course, where participants learn how to extend the useful life of their equipment and generate less waste. The mini-course will be offered this Thursday (15/06), from 8am to 12pm, at the Special Academic Unit of Human Sciences at UFG (Sant'Ana Unit). Participants will compete for a draw for 20 refurbished computers.

This Wednesday (14/06), the Sukatech program also held a debate on the topics: socio-environmental impact businesses, circular economy, reverse logistics, recycling and actions by the Government of Goiás in the area of sustainability and innovation.
