The 24th International Environmental Film and Video Festival (FICA) announces the films selected for competitive screenings. National and international short and feature films will compete in three categories: Washington Novaes International Exhibition; Mostra do Cinema Goiano and Mostra Becos da Minha Terra, which shows productions from the City of Goiás.
FICA also opened registrations for the selection of lecturers for training activities on environmental preservation and also for the selection of local artists from the city of Goiás to carry out artistic and cultural presentations during the 24th International Environmental Film and Video Festival ( HE IS). Registration is free and must be made by May 24th, exclusively by filling out and sending an online form, available at the link: https://fica.go.gov.br/.
FICA will be held between the 13th and 18th of June 2023, in the city of Goiás. Promoted by the Government of Goiás, through the State Secretariat for Culture (Secult), co-organized by the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), through Through the Educational Radio and Television Foundation (FRTVE), the event also has a partnership with the State Secretariat for Resumption, Goiás Social, State University of Goiás (UEG), Federal Institute of Goiás (UFG), Social Service of Commerce (Sesc ) and City Hall of the city of Goiás.
Selected Films
SHOW WASHINGTON NOVAES
For the Washington Novaes International Exhibition, six feature films and eight short films were selected, six foreign films and eight Brazilian films, including three productions from Goiás.
International films come from six different countries on three continents: Canada, the United States, Switzerland, Morocco, Belgium and France. Brazilian films arrive from five different states: Goiás, São Paulo, Amazonas, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso and include two films by directors from two indigenous communities: Yanomami and Kuikuro. In terms of genre, there are 10 documentaries, two experimental, one fiction and one film that is categorized as fiction and experimental.
Five members of the Washington Novaes Exhibition Selection Committee were selected by public notice and two were nominated by partner institutions in organizing FICA 2023, the Goiás State Culture Council and the Goiás State University.
They were: director and visual artist Benedito Ferreira, from Goiânia (GO), director Cássio Kelm, from São Paulo (SP), teacher and photographer Juliane Peixoto, from Brasília (DF), producer and director Fernando Segtowick, from Belém (PA), professor Georgia Cynara, from Goiânia, director Santiago Dellape, from Brasília (DF) and professor and writer Solemar Oliveira, from Anápolis (GO).
Training actions
Training actions on environmental preservation may take the form of a short course or workshop, provided for in the Work Plan for carrying out FICA 2023. Projects proposed by individuals or legal entities, resident or headquartered in the State of Goiás, may participate. selection participant will only be considered registered after submitting the duly completed form online and accompanied by a list of documents.
UFG and the RTVE Foundation will be responsible for nominating three members who will join the Selection Committee for proposals for training actions on environmental preservation. The Commission is responsible for receiving, analyzing and selecting the works. Four training action projects on environmental preservation will be selected.
Artistic and cultural activities
Projects proposed by individuals or legal entities, the latter, whose field of activity – code of registered economic activity – is compatible and pertinent to the object may participate in the selection of local artists from the city of Goiás to carry out artistic and cultural presentations during the 24th FICA. of hiring. Only artistic and cultural projects that were produced and/or performed by artists residing in the City of Goiás, with proof of residence, may participate in this program.
In total, 75 places will be offered for artistic and cultural activities in various forms. These include musical performances, circus performances, carnival events, popular culture festivities, capoeira demonstrations, poetry vocals, theater, dance, storytelling, book launches or presentations, craft fairs, gastronomy fairs and arts fairs. visuals.
The Municipal Culture Council of the City of Goiás will be responsible for nominating five members to join the Curatorship Committee for proposals from local artists. This Committee will receive, analyze and select the artistic works, as well as check the documentation required for hiring.
